Alerted on Saturday morning that a tree had come down and half-blocked Shortheath Road. When I got there, Surrey were already clearing it so some public-spirited person had obviously sparked - thank you! The workmen doing the job - most efficiently I thought - said that it was the rain that was loosening the bank that caused the problem. Given that the forecast has unremitting rain for the next week at least, will this become a more general issue?
Made a note to talk to Surrey highways when I go to County Hall tomorrow.
