A most productive meeting with the Bourne Conservation Group this morning. They do all sorts of conservation and improvement-related projects - see their very good web-site. From tidying up and improving the old Bourne Churchyard, to planting up the Bourne cross-roads, down to renovating local footpaths, they are a real force for good. I have a particularly soft spot for their work in keeping up the Middle Bourne Lane Community Garden as it was the first thing I was involved in in 1995 when I was elected to the town council.
Much of the meeting was spent in talking through the quite alarming threats to the Bourne in planning terms, of which there will be more later in the months to come I'm sure.
Keep it up please, BCG! And I know they're always on the look-out for more volunteers.
